Job Summary
Supervises Security Officers, carries out administrative responsibilities and performs advanced-level Security Officer duties.
Qualifications
Two years security experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. A valid Utah Driver's License to be obtained within 6 months of hire. A working knowledge of radio procedures, demonstrated human relations and effective written and oral communication skills also required.
In areas where the Director of Public Safety has determined it to be essential.
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Essential Functions
Problem Solving
In collaboration with a supervisor, incumbents determine when to restrain combative patients, detain persons suspected of criminal activity or trespassing and/or contact University Police for assistance.
Comments
The incumbent is exposed to stressful or dangerous situations that result from human behavior and hostile situations that may become assault threatening, necessitating the use of physical force.
Incumbents are frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb or run up/down stairs, kneel, crouch or crawl and occasional use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Incumbents occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and must be physically capable of restraining a combative patient or trespasser. Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust vision with corrective measures.
The incumbent is expected to participate in a rotating on-call schedule and work weekends and holidays.
