Job Title: Audio/Video Tape Operator

Job Summary

Plays and duplicates instructional TV programs for campus and cable use, maintains tape library and related records.

Qualifications

Six months experience with audio/video recording equipment, or equivalency, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.

One year additional experience in radio, or TV equipment operation, typing of 30 wpm, data entry skills, and ability to adapt readily to changes in operations and equipment preferred.

Essential Functions

  1. Takes requests for playbacks, enters information in computer log, and maintains ongoing records of all playbacks.
  2. Recalls the playback schedule from the computer one day in advance and collects tapes scheduled to be played.
  3. Duplicates audio and video tapes at the request of on and off-campus clients.
  4. Prepares quarterly reports on playback activity manually and with the use of the computer.
  5. Plays tapes according to the advance log, for classes and for Cable Channel 24.
  6. Tracks the age of programs taped from broadcast television and erases them when required, to comply with copyright laws.
  7. Keeps the video tape library up to date by assigning new tape numbers, entering new listings into computer, correcting existing computer information and deleting out-of-date information from the computer.
  8. Prepares computer generated lists of tapes for faculty requesting information on tapes available; provides cost estimates of services to potential customers.
  9. Informs repair engineers of equipment problems and of the campus TV rooms in use so they can be maintained in good condition.
