Job Title: Account Executive/Copy Writer

Job Summary

Works with University departments and outside clients to develop a wide array of marketing strategies. Conceptualizes and writes advertising copy to support marketing strategies and creative platforms. Coordinates the production, delivery and distribution of ongoing promotional materials.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, English or related field, plus three years professional experience in marketing, advertising, copywriting, directing publication projects or equivalency. Demonstrated ability to develop effective print and broadcast media campaigns. Must possess excellent grammar, proofreading, human relation and effective communication skills.

Familiarity with broadcast production, studio photography direction, postal regulations and costing-out jobs is preferred.

This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Essential Functions

  1. Consults with clients to determine promotional needs and develops marketing strategies and/or individual projects to meet those needs.
  2. Collaborates with graphic designers to create the concept for each project and writes advertising copy to support each concept.
  3. Oversees production of broadcast media, including writing copy for radio and/or television. Selects talent and directs production.
  4. Acts as account executive to ensure client satisfaction and timely product delivery.
  5. Tracks effectiveness of each marketing/promotional campaign through data analysis and works to improve future campaigns.
  6. Schedules and directs photography shoots. Selects model(s) and props.
  7. Researches appropriate venues for advertising and public relations materials.
  8. Generates ongoing public relations materials, such as press releases, calendar listings and public service announcements.
  9. Develops and fosters positive relationships with members of the media.
  10. Proofreads and edits various materials as needed.
  11. May plan and assist with distribution of advertising materials.

Problem Solving

Incumbents work independently and are directly responsible for the success of each marketing campaign/project. Incumbents must manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and work within allotted budgets.

Comments

This position deals with a high volume of work, tight deadlines and must be familiar with individual departments and clients.
