Job Summary

Programs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs the pneumatic and electronic controls and the Building Automation systems which monitor and operate the Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning.

Qualifications

An Associates degree in Electronics or Computer Technology plus five years experience in HVAC Control Systems or Building Automation Systems or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Network experience in ARC net and Ethernet and experience using Graphic Programming Language and demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills are also required.

Dependent upon department of assignment, a valid Utah driver’s license may be required.

This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Essential Functions

1. Maintains, programs, repairs and operates the Building Automation Systems (BAS.
2. Repairs pneumatic and electronic controls on building HVAC systems.
3. Troubleshoots and repairs electronic and pneumatic control systems on fume hoods and building exhausts systems.
4. Performs preventative maintenance on buildings HVAC pneumatic and electronic controls and on building automation panels.
5. Works with Fiber Optic communications for BAS, ARCNet and Ethernet connections. Maintains communication systems.
6. Commissions digital, electric, electronic or pneumatic controls in order to operate and monitor individual building HVAC mechanical equipment and sends pertinent information over the network to the BAS workstations.
7. Designs operational sequences to optimize energy consumption while supporting the needs of the campus community.
8. Produces and files complete documentation, drawings, etc. for each system. Also prepares BAS backup files on a regular basis for recovery.
9. Ensures that the campus automation systems are fully operational, calibrated and communicating through the network to the operator workstations.

Problem Solving

This position is empowered to make decisions pertaining to the successful operation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of the campus automation systems. This position participates in the development of new strategies, testing of new technologies and the implementation of upgrades. Budgetary concerns, special problems and periodic system reviews are the normal interaction with the supervisor. Participates as a team member in routine operation and maintenance duties.

Comments

This position is on call 24/7 and is responsible for both employees and facilities day and night.
