Job Summary
Clinical pharmacists insure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy is implemented for all patients in their care and monitor care appropriately. This includes preparing medications, participating in the drug distribution process, monitoring drug therapy, providing drug information to patients and providers, providing clinical pharmacy services, solving medication related problems for individual patients as well as in the medication use process, and supervise daily workflow to accomplish daily tasks allotted to the pharmacist and those who report to him or her (e.g., technicians, residents, students, or interns). Clinical pharmacists participate in quality improvement projects to improve clinical care or pharmacy operations. Clinical pharmacists must work effectively as a team member, communicate clearly, assertively, and professionally, to all pharmacy customers including patients, their families, and other staff members, and provide superior customer service when interacting with patients, visitors, family members, staff, co-workers, and vendors. Clinical pharmacists must be willing to work with trainees in the department (eg, students, interns, residents or new staff). The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience. Qualifications
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
