Job Summary

Supports the development and implementation of strategic planning and marketing programs by conducting market research, analyses, and assisting in the design and implementation of marketing strategies and materials using a variety of advertising media.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency; two years of related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

In the case of hospital positions, previous health care experience is preferred.

This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Essential Functions

  1. Develops new and updates existing databases to meet departmental research information and statistical needs.
  2. Acts as consultant to outside entities in statistical methodologies and computer operations.
  3. Gathers and analyzes statistical data to forecast future marketing trends. Assists in preparing reports and graphic illustrations, of findings, for use in presentations.
  4. Develops and establishes research methodologies and designs formats for data gathering, and utilizes those methods most appropriate to specific research projects.
  5. Researches market conditions in local, regional or national areas to determine potential service strategies and to identify and assess important trends.
  6. Coordinates special projects and issues with requesting departments by identifying potential data sources, gathering needed data and providing situational analyses.
  7. Assists in the conceptualization and delivers promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, billboards, buses, direct mail, radio and television commercials, public service announcements, etc.
  8. Communicates with media groups regarding current and future advertising campaigns.
  9. Coordinates the design and production of marketing materials using outside vendors.
  10. Develops and maintains the Office of Planning and Marketing website.
  11. Trains and directs the work of one Data Entry Specialist.

Problem Solving

Representative challenges of this position include collaborating with management staff, assessing the needs of the department to create representative and effective advertising materials; understanding individual department requests to develop appropriate database reports and queries; and prioritizing and organizing staff and vendor requests to meet established deadlines.
