Job Summary
Performs carpentry work at the journeyman level by applying skills unique to the trade to make or repair products made of wood or other related building materials.
Qualifications
Successful completion of an approved apprenticeship program in carpentry or four years of professional carpentry experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Dependent upon assigned department, incumbents may be required to have a valid Utah driver’s license.
This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Problem Solving
Incumbents operate with very little direct supervision. They may function as a lead worker or crew leader on specific assignments by supervising and instructing personnel of a lower or similar classification. Independent judgment is used in choosing materials, tools and procedures in finishing assigned tasks.
Comments
This work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities. Recurring lifting and carrying of moderately heavy items up to 100 pounds and above-average agility and dexterity with the ability to use hand and power tools may be required. The ability to hold, grasp and manipulate small parts and speak clearly and effectively listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally and on paper may also be required. There may be risks which require the use of special safety precautions and equipment.
