Job Summary
This position is a seasoned Medical Assistant who is responsible for organizing, planning, and coordinating the daily activities relating to patient flow through the clinic and throughout the continuum of care. The position will ensure optimal, efficient flow of patients ensuring high quality of service and efficiency. This position will function as a principal super user of clinic’s electronic medical records and will be responsible for leading the clinical staff by providing mentorship and training. This position may also be responsible for performing specialized skills as required by area of assignment.
This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.
Qualifications
Completion of a certified Medical Assistant Program or current certification as an Advanced EMT in the State of Utah. Six months experience in a healthcare related field. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Essential Functions
1. Performs as the principal super-user of clinic’s electronic medical records which includes providing support and training for staff and providers and attending ongoing trainings and updates as available.
2. Facilitates improvement projects within the clinic annually in coordination with the clinic care team.
3. Advocates for efficient clinic work flow which may include patient or visit flow coordination, daily schedule review, huddle lead, or pre visit planning.
4. Serves as a primary preceptor for new staff.
5. Provides ongoing support and mentoring for all clinical staff.
6. May coordinate care for specific patient populations.
7. May participate in documenting compliance audits as designated.
8. May coordinate referrals and obtain pre-authorization from insurance companies for procedures and treatments.
9. May complete patient registration, assists patient with co-pays and account balances, and reconcile daily cash reports.
10. May perform other administrative duties, projects, and committee assignments as assigned.
Problem Solving
Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills are essential to the position in order to prioritize patient flow and the needs of the clinic, and assist providers by providing patient care under the supervision of a licensed clinician.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
