Job Summary
Provides technical support on radiological equipment and QA and supports the development and validation of treatment delivery plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. Works with a team of medical professionals and under the direct supervision of a Qualified Medical Physicist.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in an applied science or technical field, or equivalency; demonstrated proficiency in human relations and effective communication skills required; knowledge of mathematics, computers, basic programming and skills necessary to understand the use and function of radiological equipment.
Must be able to work effectively, both independently and within a team, and be willing to work non-traditional working hours, when radiologic equipment is available for QA activities.
Bachelors degree in Physics or related engineering field are preferred.
Hospital/clinical experience in radiation therapy physics, certification in Radiation Therapy Technology (RTT), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD) are preferred.
The ability to move and lift heavy shielding and fragile physics measurement equipment preferred.

Comments
Incumbents face exposure, on a daily basis, to radiation and other contaminants as part of their job.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
