Utah Retirement Systems Plan

The University is a participating employer in Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").

Details regarding each of the URS plans is available on the URS website at www.urs.org.

  • Tier 1 Plan - Tier 1 Plan - Employees hired into eligible positions on or before June 30, 2011
  • Tier 2 Plan - Employees hired into eligible positions and first enrolled in a URS plan on or after July 1, 2011
  • Tier 1 Public Safety Plan - University Dept. of Public Safety police officers and full-time dispatchers hired into eligible positions on or before June 30, 2011
  • Tier 2 Public Safety Plan - University Dept. of Public Safety police officers and full-time dispatchers hired into eligible positions and first enrolled in a URS plan on or after July 1, 2011

New hires to the University who have prior years of service with URS may elect to enroll in the applicable URS plan before their first day of employment. Contact the Benefits Department at (801) 581-7447 for information and forms.

New hires who have previously retired through URS are subject to URS’s post retirement rules. Contact Human Resources at (801) 581-7447 or contact URS at (801) 366-7700 or (800) 365-8772.
