Absence Management
The Absence Management Team provides assistance and administers leaves of absence for University of Utah employees (excluding Hospitals and clinics). This includes Family Medical Leaves, (FMLA) Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA), Non Health Related Leave of Absences and Military Leaves. The team also processes Workers Compensation claims and Long Term Disability claims (LTD).

- FMLA Administration
Collect and review appropriate forms and documentation Approve or deny FMLA leave requests. Track FMLA leave. Send notifications of FMLA status.
- MLOA Administration
Collect and review appropriate forms and documentation. Approve or deny MLOA requests. Track MLOA Leave. Send notification of MLOA status.
- Military Leave
Answer questions regarding military leave. Send notification to University employees and their departments. Track military leave. Benefits for Employees on Military Leave of Absence
- Workplace Injury
Collect First Report of Injury claims and report to Workers Compensation. Track time loss due to on the job injuries. Answer questions regarding Workers Compensation regulations, processes and procedures
- LTD Applications
Send LTD applications to University employees. Send LTD applications and supporting documentation to The Standard for approval. Track LTD status. Send notifications of LTD status.
Hospital employees should contact the Hospital HR Office with questions about their leave requests or to submit their leave requests.
