USteps 10,000 a Day

USteps 10,000 A Day

USteps is an easy 12 week program to get you started walking 10,000 steps a day. Walking is one of the easiest ways to increase your physical activity and improve overall health. The average person’s stride length is approximately 2.5 feet long. That means it takes just over 2,000 steps to walk one mile, and 10,000 steps is close to 5 miles.

Getting Started...

Wear a pedometer - To learn how many steps you average per day, wear a pedometer every day for one week. Put it on when you get up in the morning and wear it until bedtime. By the end of the first week you will know your average daily steps. Remember to wear your pedometer every day! Pedometers are available through the WellU Program.

Set up your walking tracker - Complete your Health Quotient by logging on to www.webmdhealth.com/utah. After you have completed your HQ, set up your walking tracker by clicking on Lifestyle Centers, then Exercise.

Logging Your Steps - Record your daily steps in the walking planner located in Lifestyle Centers in your WebMD account.

Goals and Training - After determining your average daily steps, add 500 additional steps a day each week until you reach 10,000 steps.
