What types of jobs are available through the UTemps Program?
- We provide temporary staff to cover various positions including, but not limited to:
- administrative assistant
- customer service representative
- accounting
- department assistant
- clerical/data-entry
- executive secretary
- office assistant/receptionist
How does the application process work?
- All applications to our program are done online. If you do not have internet access, you can apply at the Human Resources building on the computers in the lobby. Our building is located at 420 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84108.
- Please apply online as an external candidate at www.jobs.utah.edu.

- Once you create a user profile, keyword search “UTemps”
- You MUST attach your resume! (See below for some resume tips.)
- You will be contacted for an interview if you qualify for our program and we feel confident in our ability to place you in temporary work.
- If you are invited into our temporary employee pool, you will be asked to fill out paperwork at the UTemps office in the Department of Human Resources and you will receive a New-Hire Packet.
- Upon completion of the paperwork and receipt of copies of valid forms of identification, you will be scheduled for a background check and drug screen.
- Your background check and drug screen must clear BEFORE you will be considered for any positions with the UTemps Program.
What will I get paid?
- The minimum wage for UTemps employees is $10-12/hour. The hourly wages for temporary positions are established by individual departments.
Will I get benefits as a UTemps employee?
- All UTemps employees are eligible for a FREE UTA Ed-Pass (TRAX and bus pass).
- As an employee of the University of Utah, UTemps receive staff discounts throughout the University as well as the use of other University Services.
- UTemps employees are considered temporary employees and are therefore not eligible for medical benefits as well as sick, vacation, and holiday pay.
