Assertiveness Skills

Being assertive involves openness, honesty, and firmness, all with appropriateness and flexibility. The assertive person in today’s society is confident, respects the rights of others, and is willing to ask others to do likewise. At the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize if your tendencies are assertive, passive, or aggressive.
  • Identify the four choices we have for responding to situations we are not happy with.
  • Understand the elements that make up the Assertiveness Ethic.
  • Be aware of several strategies for being more assertive.

If class is full, please contact Human Resources at 585-2300 to be placed on a waiting list.
