Take Advantage of Preventive Care Services and Save Money!

Basic preventive care and health screenings are essential to your well-being. Regular screenings can provide you with important information about your current health status and be a motivator for you to modify your current activities and behaviors to improve your overall health. Seeking follow-up care based on basic preventive screenings can save lives.

Co-pays and Co-insurance Waived
Now until June 30, 2008, all co-pays and co-insurance in the University of Utah Employee Health Care Plan will be waived on any qualifying preventive care service for employees and their enrolled dependents. Job Recruitment Efforts at the

In January, the HR recruitment team attended a number of career fairs focusing on recruitment for several of the open hospital positions including Outpatient Clinic Representatives, Medical Assistants, Linen Service Aides and Custodians. The Career Fairs were located throughout the Wasatch Front and will better assist us in getting the word out about the amazing employment opportunities here at the U.

Medical Assistant Luncheon
The Recruitment Team will be facilitating a Medical Assistant Luncheon in Human Resources. The goal of the luncheon is to obtain data on why MA’s come, stay, and leave the University. “I’m really excited about the lunch. The information we get from it will help us strategize on MA recruitment and retention and help us move forward on solving the chronic challenge of finding and retaining MA’s,” expressed Heather Molyneaux, Human Resources Recruiter.

New Recruitment Splash Page
As well as attending career fairs and holding luncheons, the Recruitment team has designed and implemented our very first HR recruitment website splashpage. The splashpage focuses on current employees and includes testimonials on why employees love working at the U, tips on increasing your chance in getting hired at the U, and answers to all of your frequently asked questions. New I-9 Form

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently issued a revised I-9 Form (Employment Eligibility Verification Form). The new I-9 Form is intended to comply with the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA), which reduced the number of documents employers may accept from newly hired employees during the employment eligibility verification process.

Five Documents Removed
Five documents have been removed on the new I-9 Form, from List A of the List of Acceptable Documents, because they lack features to help deter counterfeiting, tampering, and fraud. Additionally, an unexpired Employment Authorization Document (Form I-766) was added to List A of the List of Acceptable Documents on the revised I-9 Form.

The New Form
Please begin using the revised Form I-9 immediately for all new employees and for existing employees who require reverification. Failure to use the new form may result in fines and penalties to the University. Please destroy any copies of the Form I-9 that are not marked as revised 06/05/07 in the bottom right corner of the page. You can print the new Form I-9 at www.hr.utah.edu/forms/lib/i-9cert.pdf. Both the revised I-9 Form and the M-274 “Handbook for Employers, Instructions for Completing the Form I-9” are also available online at www.uscis.gov. If you have questions, contact your Human Resources Consultant.

We appreciate the important job you do by preparing and updating I-9 Forms for the University of Utah, and we thank you in advance for helping our institution comply with the law.

See the Benefits Department Retirement Plans web page at www.hr.utah.edu/ben/retirement for customer service phone numbers and links to the beneficiary designation forms for each provider.
