Childcare
The University of Utah has several on-site child-care facilities:
- Bright Horizons
- KinderCare
- BioKIDs
- ASUU Child Care Program
- The Child Care Coordinating Office, a campus run Child and Family Development Center that works with parents to help find the most suitable care for their child either on campus or near their home.
Elder Care Information and Referral
The Elder Care Information & Referral program is offered as a free service designed to primarily serve University of Utah community (faculty, staff, students, and alumni). This program is based on a team of qualified consultants who can provide general and customized assistance in the area of elder care concerns.
Other Services
- The Hospital also has three on-site lactation rooms available for staff.
- Eligible employees can take up to twelve (12) weeks of leave for the following reasons:
- Birth.
- Adoption or foster care placement of a child.
- To care for a parent, spouse or child with a serious health condition.
- For a serious health condition that leaves them unable to perform their job.
- The University Hospital offers childbirth classes for expectant parents and has an extensive library of materials on parenting issues available to both staff and patients. (http://uuhsc.utah.edu/wcservices/perinatal)
- Discounted summer child care, day and sport camp programs are available to employees.
- Flexible work schedules and telecommuting options also enable employees to meet the needs of their family.
- Flexible spending accounts, offered through the Benefits Department, are also available to offset the costs of day care.
