University-funded Retirement PlansThe University makes retirement contributions for each employee in a benefit-eligible position. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the applicable retirement plan. These plans are fully funded by the University, employees cannot contribute to these plans. Utah Retirement Systems Plan (URS Plan)
- Non-exempt campus employees
401(a) Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (401(a)Plan)
- Standard Benefit Program - Faculty and exempt campus employees (includes some University Health Care employees hired prior to January 1, 2001)
- HPP Benefit Program - All University Health Care employees hired into positions at the hospitals and clinics on or after January 1, 2001 and many hired prior to that date
Contact the Benefits Department or check eBenefits if you are unsure of the retirement plan(s) you are enrolled in.
Only employees that are residents of the United States and those holding H1B Visas are eligible for retirement benefits. Postdoctoral Fellows and Housestaff are not eligible for Employer-funded retirement benefits.
